bathroom refinishing

I have an old cast iron tub and pink tile. I don’t have the money to replace it all. What can I do to clean the tub and change the color of the tile?

Older cast iron tubs are certainly worth keeping. They do a much better job of holding the heat vs. cheaper steel or acrylic bathtubs.

I suggest having both your bathtub and tile professionally refinished. Refinishing eliminates the hassle, mess and expensive replacement. The end result is your bathtub and tile surround will look and feel like new.
Avoid DIY Kits. The finish is inconsistent, takes several days to cure and has been known not to last very long.  Look for a refinisher that uses a non acid-bonding agent; who buffs, polishes and re-caulks. This extra step is what really gives the surfaces a new porcelain feel and a deep gloss.

Since you have a pink tile, your vanity may be dated too. Ask your refinisher about new stone looks for your vanity. These finishes are being used on tile walls, floors and countertops. Their beautiful, durable and you have a choice of colors and textures.
