The agency provides free information and resource services for families in search of child care and early learning options for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and schoolagers. Action for Children maintains a comprehensive data bank of licensed public and private child-care center; certified and registered family child-care homes; preschools; Head Start; and After-School programs. The Information and Resource specialist informs parents that all of the resources meet minimum health and safety standards and quality can vary so they must visit several settings. Specialists also talk with parents about national accreditation for centers and homes and Ohio’s voluntary star rating system for centers, Step Up to Quality. Families are given a “Take the Time” booklet and checklist to guide them in their visits. Please call Action for Children at 614-224-0222 and ask for Sandi Dubin today. Or go to our website www.actionforchildren.org for more information. |
