There are no laws or regulations that force physicians to be honest about their credentials. Board certification is important, but may not be in the specialty you expected so use the resources available to you -- the Ohio State Medical Board, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, and also the Columbus Society of Plastic Surgeons. If you are looking for an otolaryngologist (Facial Plastic Surgeon / ENT) or other specialty, then I would recommend checking with their societies. Remember, to ask around – personal experience and reputation are great resources. So talk with your friends, family, and co-workers in addition to doing your credentialing homework. Brian K.
