Dental careHow long can I safely put off dental care while waiting for dental insurance? Many people put off receiving dental care because they do have dental insurance. while it is easy to understand the thought process of a persona wanting to save money wherever possible, putting off dental care is a bad idea because it is bad for your health and can cost you more money in the long run. |

While waiting for insurance, several things can happen. Small cavities become big cavities, big cavities reach the nerve and become abscessed, causing toothaches and the need for root canals. Badly broken down teeth reach a point where they can not be saved and need to be removed. This, then caused the need for some type of replacement such an implant, a bridge or a removable partial denture. Also, unchecked gum disease can lead to serious health problems not the least of which is congestive heart failure. It is simple to see that the earlier you catch a dental condition, the cheaper it will be to correct. Small fillings cost less than larger ones. Fillings are cheaper than root canals, and saving a tooth by doing a root canal and a crown (cap), is cheaper than a bridge or an implant and implant crown. Simply put, putting off dental care while waiting to have dental insurance is not a good idea. Dr. Kvitko |
