Hidden costs can hurt. The average employer loses the most workers due to lack of reliable transportation. The yearly national average for employee turnover is 25%. How does this affect the bottom line?

ABC Company has 40 employees each earning $25,000 annually. Using standard cost analysis, each employee leaving a company at this salary level costs one-half their yearly salary. Therefore, losing just 10 employees in one year will cost the company at least $125,000. But that’s not all, you still need to add in costs for new employee recruitment, hiring and training, plus production loss during the replacement employee’s learning curve. It’s amazing how many human resource professionals aren’t taking a harder look at what easy, low cost measures can be taken to lessen employee turnover. If your company is experiencing a 25% or higher turnover, and you could reduce that number by 10 percent, the savings each year would be significant.
