John Malkovich
Malkovich's brooding portrait on the home page sits atop a l-o-n-g essay by webmaster Angel Bell. Content-rich site, layout could use some work.

Viggo Mortensen
From "Frosty." A cursory look at Mortensen's career as an actor and poet. The

Eddie Murphy
From The Comedy Company. Murphy's films, awards, albums, and biography.

Includes review of "Sideman," a stage play Slater starred in.

Ben Stiller
From Warner Bros.' Alt.Culture site. A brief biography.

Kiefer Sutherland
The only page about Kiefer on the web, it's also one of the simplest. The author collects all sorts of paraphernalia, so it's a wonder the site isn't more informative.

Billy Bob Thornton
Bio page From Reinelily's Billybobapalooza. Sign up for Planet Billy Bob, the mailing list.

Bruce Willis
From "Eddy Gris." Extensive sounds page, requisite filmography and photos. Ugly,

A relatively bare-bones effort for this Friends and Scream star. Highlights
include an extensive gallery of photos and alternate versions in French and German.

Ellen DeGeneres
From Linda Hillier. The news page from The Aussie
Ellen DeGeneres Page

Catherine Zeta Jones

Simple, no-frills website devoted to the beautiful star of Deep Impact and Bad
Boys
. Developed thanks to the Blizzard of '96.

Amazingly detailed sight about the star of The Lover and The Color of Night.
Java needed to play trivia game.

Demi Moore
Brief bio page from Deb Ackley's unofficial site.   Filmography, gallery, and multimedia. Could use updating.

Julianne Moore
Excellent teaser headlines on the homepage lead you to the updated news page. Simple, elegant layout, skimpy on information. It'll take a while to get that haunting image that graces every page out of my head.

Gwyneth Paltrow
From Geoff Bowen. Simple page, with a fair photo gallery, a message board, and a chat room. News needs to be beefed up.

information has been copied by other sites.

Liv Tyler
Jam-packed site from "LivTylerFan." Modest picture gallery and multimedia
archive.

Cogently-written bio. Most of the info is on simply-designed homepage. Includes stage appearances and two addresses for fan letters.

Sigourney Weaver
A gushy fan paeon to Sigourney Weaver.

Kate Winslet
(Java.) Slick, professional design of an information-rich site. Inexplicably, the picture gallery is password-protected.

Kate Winslet
The definitive Kate site on the web. Clip of the week, download section, the obligatory gallery and news, and a search engine. Also features a Members Only section.

Fan Movie Sites

Cinephobia
Highlights include fan Stephen Rowley's academic essays
for university classes (topics include "Hong Kong vs. Hollywood" and
"Australian Cinema and National Identity"). Also features the "obligatory Jaws
page."

FilmFrog
Spotlights classic Hollywood films that are "strong examples of the system at its
best." Especially handy -- a guide to movies on TV, especially channels like American Movie Classics and Turner Classic Movies.

Great Scenes from Great Movies
Slow server. Fan Mike Ross has assembled a few scenes, audio files, and links to Bond Movies, Star Wars, The Shining, The Graduate, and others. Could use
expanding.

The Hard Boiled Movie Page
Fan critic Steve Kong, self-styled "honest reviews by a guy who loves the
cinema." For someone who lambasts the pro critics for forgetting that movies are
"fun," Kong takes some dim views of current films himself. Catch his Event
Horizon
review.

Hollywood Central
Tough video reviews, written by Tom Green & Tom Whitaker, of UK releases. Backgroud graphic conflicts with text and was distorted in Navigator Gold 3.0. Links to other film sites and to screenplays. Skimpy feature articles section.

Film Databases

CelebSite
One of the better celebrity databases on the web. You can use the search engine on the home page, browse "Star Bios" by last name, or browse by category. Bios include Mr. Showbiz interviews and the best sites for that celebrity on the web.

Cinemania's Movies List
Cinemania's "massive database" of movies, organized by genre. If you
don't know the genre of the movie you're searching for, click "All" to get an
alphabetized listing. Handy, but not as comprehensive as one might like.

Cinemania's People List
Cinemania's database of actors, directors, screenwriters, producers, and technical personnel. The same pluses and minuses that apply to the site's movies database apply here as well.

Hollywood Online's MoviePeople Database
Disappointing search feature -- you have to know who you're searching for, and how to spell that person's name. Searches result in filmographies, biographies (sometimes), and simple stats like occupation and birth date.

The Internet Movie Database
The grandparent of all Web/Internet movie sites. Search the database for cast, production crew, goofs, trivia, images, sounds, and more, for nearly any movie released.

Moviefinder.com
E! Online's movie finding database. Search by first word, personal taste, or
category (genre, rating, etc.), and other qualifiers, using the "Power Search"
feature. To rank movies by personal taste, you have to register as a member and then log in.
