construction projects in Franklin, Delaware, Madison, Pickaway
and Union counties.

The city's Paving The Way program
and ODOT updates road construction around Columbus:
I-70/I-71/I-670 (Downtown) -
There will be various lane restrictions on westbound I-70
between the I-70/I-71 split and I-670 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday (5/10) for lighting repair.
High Street (North Side) -
Northbound North High Street will be restricted to one lane at
the intersection of EN Broadway on Monday (5/12) and Tuesday
(5/1) from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Crews will be lining sewers.
Fifth Avenue Restricted to Westbound-Only (East Side) -
Beginning Wednesday (5/7), Fifth Avenue will be reduced to one
lane of westbound traffic only between Leonard and Woodland
avenues for water line work. The detour for eastbound traffic is
Leonard Avenue to eastbound I-670 to Fifth Avenue. This
restriction will be in place 24 hours a day and is expected to
last approximately one week
Wakefield Drive (West Side)
- Wakefield Drive will be closed at Hilliard Rome Road Thursday
and Friday (5/8 and 5/9) to allow for paving as part of the
Hilliard Rome widening project, weather permitting. Access to
local subdivisions will be available via Luther Lane off
Hilliard Rome road.
Luther Lane (West Side) – (NEW) Luther Lane will close at
the intersection with Hilliard-Rome Road Wednesday (5/7) through
Friday (5/9) as part of the Hilliard-Rome Road widening project.
The posted detour will be Wakefield Road.
Hilliard-Rome Road (West Side) - A project to widen
Hilliard-Rome Road from two lanes to five between Roberts Road
and Cemetery Road is in progress on Columbus’ northwest side.
One lane will be maintained in each direction. Completion date:
September 2008.
Roberts Road (West Side) - A major widening project is in
progress on Roberts Road from to lanes to five lanes with curb
and gutter between Hilliard-Rome Road and I-270. At least one
lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction on Roberts
Road. Completion date: July 2009.
Main Street (Hilliard) -A
streetscape improvements project is underway on Main Street in
Old Hilliard between Grace Street and Avery Road. One lane of
traffic in each direction is currently maintained with some
closures of side streets and various parking restrictions. There
will be some future closures of Main Street during this project,
which is expected to be completed in the fall.
Livingston Avenue (Southeast
Side) - Paving of Livingston Avenue will start on Monday
(5/5) between Parsons Avenue and 18th Street. Traffic will be
restricted to one lane in each direction daily from 9 a.m. to 4
p.m. through Friday (5/9), weather permitting.
State Route 3 (Northeast Side) – (NEW) SR 3 will be
reduced to one lane in each direction between Morse Road and
Cleveland Avenue from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving. Completion
date: May 16
OSU Campus Area
Lane Avenue - The curb lane
of eastbound Lane Avenue will be closed and the through traffic
shifted to the turn lane between Tuttle Avenue and Neil Avenue
on Monday (4/28). Turns will still be permitted. Crews will be
building a parking garage and expect completion in December of
2009
King Avenue - King Avenue
will be restricted to one lane for both directions with flaggers
near Cannon Drive from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily until Friday
(5/7), weather permitting. Crews will be installing medians
State Route 161 (Northeast Side) – (NEW) SR 161 will be
reduced to one lane in each direction between SR 3 and Sunbury
Road for barrier wall work. Completion date: May 9. With the start of construction season, the speed limit on
SR 161 eastbound will be reduced to 45 mph at 9 a.m. between SR
3 and Hamilton Road. Completion date: October 31
Cleveland Avenue (Northeast
Side) - Northbound Cleveland Avenue is restricted to one
lane between S.R. 161 and I-270 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
Crews are constructing sidewalks and expect to be completed
about mid-May, weather permitting. Work on the southbound side
will begin in mid-May.
Waggoner Road (Gahanna) - (NEW) During this project new
waterline will be installed from Clark State Road to just south
of Havens Corners Road and will last until about March of 2009.
There will be various traffic control during the project,
including flagging and total road closures.
Lambert Road - Lambert Road will
be closed over Hellbranch Run (just north of Cardinal Drive in
Pleasant Township) for bridge rehabilitation. The posted detour
route for northbound motorists is Harrisburg Pike (U.S. Rt. 62)
north to London-Groveport Road (S.R. 665), and west to Lambert
Road. Southbound motorists should follow the detour route in the
opposite direction. This closure is expected to be in place
until late August.
Trabue Road (West Side) -
Traffic will be restricted to one lane for both directions
maintained by flaggers on most days on Trabue Road near the
Walcutt Road intersection from 9 a.m. to
4 p.m. daily until late October. Crews will be widening the
intersection and additional restrictions on Walcutt Road will
happen later in the project. Motorist should expect delays.
Spring Street (Arena District) -
Spring Street will be restricted to a one lane between Neil Avenue and Hanover Street daily from
6 a.m. to 4 p.m. until early May, weather permitting. Crews will
be installing sewers.
Tuttle Crossing Boulevard
(Northwest Side) - The widening and reconstruction of Tuttle
Crossing Boulevard, from Wilcox Road to I-270, that began last
fall is proceeding on schedule. One of the two left-turn lanes from
Emerald Parkway southbound to Tuttle Crossing Boulevard
eastbound will be closed because of construction.
This reduction will be in effect through July.
Southbound access to Britton Parkway will be maintained.
Relocation of utility lines and
waterline construction on the south side of Tuttle Crossing
Boulevard from Hirth Road to I-270 have been completed, and storm sewer work
is nearly finished. Two-way travel will be maintained through
the construction zone using temporary pavement built on the
north side of Tuttle Crossing Boulevard. Motorists, however,
should expect slow moving traffic and possible delays. A new
traffic signal at the Emerald/Britton Parkway intersection is
being installed to help improve mobility. Roadway widening and
reconstruction from Hirth Road to Wilcox Road should be under
way by mid-July. The entire project is scheduled for completion
this fall.
East Fifth Avenue will be
restricted to one lane in each direction
between Grant Avenue and Penny Street as crews install sewers.
This is a 24 hour a day restriction that is expected to be
completed by early July.
Joyce Avenue (North Side) -
There will be various lane restrictions on Joyce Avenue between Hudson Street and 26th Avenue from 9 a.m.
to 4 p.m. daily. Crews will be installing waterline and will be
finished in late April
17th Avenue (East Side) - 17th Avenue is closed at the
intersection of Stelzer Road to rebuild the intersection as part
of the Stelzer Road widening. The posted detour will be
Johnstown Road. Completion date: May 16.
Broad Street (Far East Side) - Crews will be widening
East Broad Street and replacing the bridge between
Reynoldsburg-New Albany Road and Blacklick Creek. During
construction two lanes will be maintained in each direction with
possible turn restrictions. The project will be completed in the
fall.
US 40 (Far East Side) - A
pavement rehabilitation project is underway on US 40 between Taylor Road and
SR 310. A center lane will also be
added. One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained
during construction. The estimated completion date is September
30.
Civic Center Drive (Downtown) --
Civic Center Drive is restricted to one lane until
summer of 2009 from Broad Street to Rich Street. This 24 hour a
day restriction is a part of the Scioto Mile Construction
Project.
Town Street (Downtown) -
will be closed between Civic Center Drive and Front Street for utility relocation work. It will
reopen in early April, weather permitting. This work is part of
the reconstruction of Town Street which will close Town Street
from spring to November of 2008.
Harrisburg Pike - There will be various lane restrictions
on Harrisburg Pike between Frank and Eakin roads for utility
work. Work will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily until
late June, weather permitting. Two-way traffic will be
maintained.
Main Street (East Side)-The
curb lane of eastbound Main Street is closed between Cassady
Avenue and Pleasant Ridge Avenue for building construction. This
restriction is in place 24 hours a day until early August.
Pickaway County
US Route 23 –
A project to rehabilitate three bridges along
US 23 in Pickaway County is underway. The work
includes replacing bridge decks and repairing the approaches.
The bridges are located over the CSX railroad, Griffy’s Run, and
Walnut Creek. The work over the CSX railroad will be preformed
in phases with one lane of traffic being maintained over the
railroad in each direction. Traffic will be reduced to one lane
in each direction at Griffy’s Run and Walnut Creek until each
bridge is completed. The $6.2 million project is scheduled to be
completed in November.
Union County
State Route 4 bridge
over Bokes Creek - The work includes
replacing the bridge deck and approaches. SR 4 will be closed to traffic at the bridge and will
reopen the end of June, weather permitting. The posted detour
will be SR 347 to SR 37 or reverse. The bridge work is part of
an $885,000 project to rehabilitate two bridges in Union County.
The second bridge is on Mitchell-Dewitt Road over US 33.
Rehabilitation work on this project will begin later this
summer.

alternates to their regular routes of travel, exercise extra
caution in construction zones and, for more information contact
